Sock It To Work
As part of an assignment, I developed an Interactive Window Display concept for Happy Socks. This display was designed to engage and captivate passersby through a playful, digital experience centered around the fictional "Sock It to Work Day."
-
The assignment was to transform a traditional retail window display into an interactive installation that draws people in. Using technology, storytelling, and playful elements, the display aimed to create an immersive experience blending physical and digital interactions.
-
Socks are essential yet often overlooked, typically seen as last-minute holiday gifts. Research highlighted their untapped potential as a playful accessory. This led to "Sock It to Work Day" on October 9th, encouraging people to see socks as creative, personal, and celebratory, not just functional.
-
The campaign aimed to transform socks into celebrated items of self-expression with "Sock It to Work Day" by:
Making Socks a Statement Piece: Encouraging socks as playful reflections of personality and mood.
Personalizing the Experience: Allowing customers to design their own socks for a meaningful connection.
Building Community: Creating a fun event for workplaces and schools to spark creativity and camaraderie.
Driving Social Engagement: Generating shareable moments to connect people globally through the joy of socks.
-
To bring the campaign to life, I designed an Interactive Window Display for Happy Socks that combined creativity, technology, and storytelling:
Virtual Sock Designer Screen: Passersby designed custom socks on a touchscreen, with their creations showcased on a gallery wall. A QR code offered a personalized “design certificate” and in-store discount.
Sock of Fame: Life-sized sock installations celebrated quirky professions like "The Artist" with humorous blurbs. Visitor designs were spotlighted hourly in a “Personalized Sock of Fame.”
"Sock It to Work" Engagement: Offices and schools celebrated by wearing unique socks on October 9th, sharing photos on social media with branded hashtags and challenges.
